Description
Starting from Paphos, we embark on a private excursion through history and mythology. We travel east along the stunning coastline, stopping at Petra tou Romiou, where the goddess Aphrodite is said to have emerged from the sea. We then visit Curium, an important city-state and one of the most important archaeological sites on the island. Here, we can admire the Greek-Roman amphitheatre of the second century BC, the house of Eustolios, and the early Christian basilica from the fifth century. We then head west, stopping again at Petra tou Romiou, before continuing to Paphos, a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site. Our visit begins with the famous mosaics of the House of Dionysus, dating back to the third to fifth centuries AD. We then explore the Tombs of the Kings, cut into the rock and decorated with Doric columns, and the Church of Panagia Chrysopolitissa, built in the thirteenth century. In the afternoon, we return to the hotel.
